Long gap after high school

Postby mrjoykill » Fri, 15 Aug 2014 02:37:45 -0500

I am an Indian student who finished high school and begun my your year bachelors degree but dropped out and plan to do my undergraduate degree in the US.
The problem however is that my educational consultant advises me to not provide details about my discontinued bachelors degree as the results are quite bad and without that there will be a five year gap(2009-20014) since high school (10+2 in Indian educational terms).
Surely this will affect my chances of getting into a good university but will it leave me any chance at all ? Also I was planning on doing an associate degree and later joining college for junior and senior year, will my F1 VISA be extended in that case ? Will my 5 year gap be a huge problem in obtaining my visa ?
Please help at the earliest. Haven't got much time to resurrect my career.
