Hey, we're three friends who are currently A-level students in the U.K. However we're thinking about going to university in Canada but we're not sure exactly where to begin!
One of us wants to do something to do with Media but we're struggling to find decent courses  The other two are pretty easy but we're still not sure exactly where to start. Is there any one here who could help explain the Canadian Education system because we keep getting confused?
Plus please comment if you've moved from the U.K to Canada cause we'd have about a million questions :D
Cheers

Hi there. Well, what did you want to know. I've lived in the UK, went to University in Canada, currently live in Canada.

The first degree is almost always 4 years in length. I would have thought there'd be a lot of choice for media studies. Adjusting to the weather anywhere east of Vancouver is going to be a struggle. Vancouver has 2 major universities, Victoria as well.

What specifically were you wondering about?

I believe that in order to get student visa, you need to arrange homestay accommodation (4 weeks is minimum), and have a long-term study plan such as: how long will you study English (if you don't have TOEFL or IELTS) in which school, then which college or university and which major will you be studying after finishing your English.
There are some language schools with academic/university pathway that can help you go directly to college/university when you complete a certain English level in those schools.
It's hard to tell which college or university is best to apply because each school has their own strength and their famous program. For example, according to my knowledge, York University and Ryerson University are good for business programs; University of Toronto is for science in general while university of waterloo is good for engineering and computer science. Laurentian University is good for engineering and mining. etc.

Hope this helps you.
