There are a few good plans that cover you up to millions for emergencies. They usually have coverage for a regular annual medical exam and eye exam, along with dental coverage and more. Some even cover pregnancy is the student got pregnant after the start of the policy. A friend of mine bought the Allianz one and so far seems to be happy with it.

The Student Secure plan provides international student health insurance to both international and study abroad students who are studying outside of their home country either in the USA or around the world. This comprehensive student health insurance plan offers coverage on a monthly basis that will meet and exceed nearly all school and government requirements, and for those students on the J1 and F1 visa (even those on OPT) you are automatically eligible for coverage.

I heard a lot about Compass insurance. It is a good solution for students, they even provide discounts for students of the first courses.

Health insurance makes it much easier to receive quality health care and can help guarantee that you have the funds to continue with your education.
Medical care can be very costly, especially for those foreign students who are not able to access free care available through government resources (acceptance of free medical care can jeopardize your visa status).
Most schools require that foriegn students & scholars have some form of foriegn health insurance.
